The OIG regularly announces that home health agencies and hospice providers have violated certain laws and have been fined. In this session, attendees will learn how to use CMS, OIG, and DOJ guidance to measure the effectiveness of their compliance program. This session will review the core compliance and ethics program expectations and explore CMS, OIG, and DOJ guidance. The session will discuss DOJ Guidance on the Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs and OIG’s Memos on Home Health and Hospice Compliance Program among other guidance. The discussion will include an overview of the key questions the DOJ thinks need to be asked to determine the effectiveness of your compliance program. Finally, there will be a discussion on the necessary elements of your compliance programs, including but not limited to: (1) how to assess the effectiveness of your compliance program using CMS regulations; and (2) key questions to ask to assess the effectiveness of your compliance program.
