Description
Addressing social determinants of health (SDOH) is a key approach to achieving health equity. In this session, we will present the findings from multiple research studies, including an analysis of national data (OASIS, MedPAR, MBSF, etc.) to understand how socioeconomic status affects infection outcomes for Medicare recipients receiving home healthcare (HHC). Using data from qualitative interviews and national surveys, we will describe staffing challenges faced by HHC agencies in rural areas and those serving primarily racial/ethnic minorities and explore the solutions the HHC agencies adopted to ensure quality care.
Learning Objective 1:
Identify the key SDOH that impact infection outcomes in HHC patients.
Learning Objective 2:
Describe the staffing challenges faced by HHC agencies serving vulnerable populations, including patients in rural areas and racial/ethnic minorities.
Learning Objective 3:
Analyze strategies to address these challenges to promote health equity in the HHC setting.
