Description
A lot is said about case mix, but there really is not a lot published about Case Mix and what it means, and even further, what does it mean in the home health context. There are many terms that are thrown around, such as Case Mix, HHRG, and HIPPS. If we can determine what goes into the Case Mix, then we can determine its impact on profitability. We will determine the base foundation of case mix, evaluate the impact of changes, and determine what the results of each change in the mixture is on the final product.

• Identify the important details of the case mix weight in determining the
acuity of the patients.
• Explain the financial impact of case mix on the PDGM calculation and
how it impacts the reimbursement aspects of each episode of care.
• Describe how leaders can proactively assess the profitability of the
agency based on case mix weight and utilize this information to strategic plan and budget for success.
