105. Successfully Contracting Palliative Care to ACOs and Medicare Advantage is proudly presented to you by National Association for Home Care & Hospice. Thank you. We hope that you enjoy your course.
Description:
Medicare’s direct reimbursement for palliative services is inadequate, but providers can't afford to ignore the business opportunity from palliative care. This session covers practical tips to develop a business plan for value-based contracts with ACOs and payers, funding palliative care while maintaining hospice census. This joint presentation has data and lessons learned from successful contracts with a large MA payer in its region.
Learning Objective 1:
Explain why ACOs and Medicare Advantage organizations need contracts with palliative care and hospice providers, and know how to use that information to get meetings with payers in your market.
Learning Objective 2:
Design and build a palliative service that is a "must have" for payers and ACOs without cannibalizing your existing hospice census, considering service design, cost structure, administration, and data reporting.
Learning Objective 3:
Outline a business plan with detailed work steps to get contracts and negotiate payment with non-Medicare payers for palliative care.
