The Home Health Value Based Purchasing demonstration has been celebrated as one of CMS’ most successful alternative payment models, resulting in an average 4.6% improvement in home health agencies’ quality scores as well as average annual savings of $141 million to Medicare. HHVBP’s first nationwide performance year starts in 2013. 93% of providers will be grouped into the “large” cohort. The submitted data will be grouped together and to establish payment adjustments based on performance in VBP measures. In this session, we will review tips for establishing benchmarks based on your baseline year and 2022 data and uncover ways to identify opportunities for improvement in 2023.

1 . Explain calculations for the VBP measures. Gain insight into the metrics that carry the most weight for HHVBP scoring and creating benchmarks on a local and enterprise level. Discuss considerations to take into account when predicting 2023 scoring.
