This session will provide an update on key hospice regulatory and policy issues. Among the issues addressed will be hospice “relatedness”, including pending requirements to expand the hospice election statement and offer an election statement addendum to patients and others, as well as the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) findings related to hospice and Part D spending. The session will also provide an update on the hospice quality reporting program. (Please attend session 102 for updates on hospice payments and other issues.)

• Describe expanded hospice regulatory requirements related to the election statement and election statement addendum.
• Discuss issues and concerns around “unrelatedness” in hospice, including the OIG’s findings on hospice and Part D drugs.
•  Outline pending changes to the hospice quality reporting program, including an update on the hospice assessment tool.
