Excellence in hospice involves much more than compassionate care delivered by expert teams. It also requires a disciplined, structured approach to operations that unites clinical, financial and administrative teams to work together to achieve higher levels of performance through metrics. This session will identify key performance indicators for measurement and reporting that involve everyone from direct care providers to back office support staff and volunteers. Discussions will include ways to operationalize benchmarks, a case study on hospice performance improvement, best practices for quality and financial management, and strategies for sustaining staff engagement and accountability.

- Determine what key clinical and financial benchmarks to measure hospice organizational performance, including internal and external benchmarks and specialized reports
- Determine what key data elements are needed to establish clinical, operational and financial performance expectations and goals
