Behavioral health equity is the right to access high quality and affordable health care services and supports for all populations. Advancing health equity involves ensuring that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible.

Understanding how behavioral health issues differ for men and women helps providers know the unique barriers that women face. Understanding the differences helps to address long-standing stereotypes that have made their way into behavioral health research and treatment.
