Depression at End of Life

Depression is a common condition that occurs at the end of life and can have negative effects on the individual if not recognized and treated appropriately. This course will discuss the differences between sadness, grief, and depression and review some of the risk factors, causes, and demographics of depression at end of life. Symptoms and treatment of depression in the dying will also be described. Without this knowledge and understanding, nursing professionals may fail to identify depression in dying patients, resulting in inadequate treatment.
